With the blessings of Almighty we’ll continue our work with Perseverance and receive many more awards in future.

Essay writing competition

Gandhi study centre conducted an Essay writing competition on October 2nd 2023. Our student M.Thilak Narayanan won the cash award of Rs.1000/- and a shield was awarded to our school.

Geetha Chanting Competition

Geetha Bhavan Trust has conducted Geetha chanting competition on account of Krishna Jayanthi celebrations. Our students Saicharan of IV, Yuvaraj of V, R.K.Ramya of XI, Yanugantti Manjula of XI Std, priyanka.T of XII, Lingeshwari of VIII, Madhumitha of 1st Std have participated in Geetha chanting, Oratorical, drawing, fancy dress, group song and group bhajan and won 1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes respectively.

SYMA Trophy

Students have participated in SYMA Child fest 2018 held at Spencer plaza. Our students have bagged prizes in more number of competitions like group singing, group dance, instrumental fusion, Art work, drawing and fancy dress. Our school has won the overall trophy of that event.

Inspire Award Science Exhibition (2018-19)

INSPIRE AWARD SCIENCE EXHIBITION, (2018 – 19) Chennai District level was organised by Tamilnadu Science & Technology centre &Tamilnadu Govt. at JG. Govt. Girls’ Hr. Sec. School, Choolaimedu on 01/02/19.

Our school students C.Suchitra VI Std, B.Md.Ariyan VII Std, S.Sanjai VIII Std, M.P.Sruthi IX Std, B.Karthikeyan X Std were selected & each was paid Rs.10000/- cash award. They participated in the INSPIRE AWARD EXHIBITION at various levels with their models. B.Md.Ariyan of VII won the consolation prize in it. He exhibited a working model of “FUTURE SCHOOL” which focussed on the alternative sources of energy, management of water, safety alarms(fire & earthquake) etc.,

It was an enriching experience where students showcased creativity & innovative designs based on various themes.

Inter School Science Exhibition

Inter School Science Exhibition for Sub Junior, Juniors, Seniors & Super Seniors was held on August 30 at Ganapathy Iyer Girls High School, Gopalapuram, Chennai. Students of S.V.M.Hr.Sec.School, Royapettah, participated in all the levels.

S.B.Vikram, J.Jeevan, A.Liyaquath and S.Karun (of Std XI & XII) won I prize and cash award of Rs. 2500 at the Super – Senior Level and the topic they tackled was “Development of Indian Space Research”. At the Junior Level the title given for the Exihibition was “How to save water - with your own ideas and suggestions” and the I prize and Rs.2, 500 Cash Award winners were S.U.Safa Fateena and F.Fardeen Khan (of Std VI & VIII). The organisers praised the School Management for sending talented students for the event and requested for more such participation in future too.

Junior Red Cross Camp

Our school children has participated in various competition conducted in Junior Red Cross camp and won prizes.

Safety Awarness

Safety is the prime concern in our school. In our school campus, each building has two exits, four way exit from school premises. Fire extinguishers and fire hose have also been installed on the floor of the building. The staff members have been trained to use the equipment.

Chennai Runs 2023

Students of classes IX to XII participated in the Chennai Runs 2023 Marathon, organised by Madras Round Table 1 on 26/11/2023, from Besant Avenue Road to Olcott School ground

Mupperum Vizha 2023

The Madras Maha Jana Sabha, Mount Road, Chennai conducted Mupperum Vizha on 17/08/2023 S.S.Rakshika of Std IX & V.Amirtha of Std XI won the II & III Prizes respectively in solo singing Competition. S.N.Abdur Rahman of Std VIII won a Consolation prize in the Oratorical Competition.

Motivational Speech

Mr.V.Nandakumar.,IRS, Additional Commissioner, Income Tax Department, Chennai gave a motivational speech to the X, XI & XII students of our school on 29/10/21.

Eye Camp

An Eye Camp was conducted for our students by Sankara Nethralaya Eye Hospital & free spectacles were sponsored.

Girl Child's Safety Program

Investigative unit of Crime against women (IUCAW) Chennai, along with W-23 Women Police Station, Royapettah conducted an awareness programme on GIRL CHILD’S SAFETY for our school girl children.

Road Safety Week (2020)

Sree Venkateshwarar Mat.Hr.Sec.School, Royapettah, Chennai 14. observed ‘Road Safety Week’ on 23.01.2020 at their school premises.

Mr.Adishankar, Road safety Engineer & Mr.Rangarajan - Project Co - ordinator of TRAX - Road safety NGO benevolently offered to distribute free helmets to125 parents & 125 children of 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th std of our Institution. Nearly 1000 students, staff members & parents attended the meeting.

Mr.Adishanker while addressing the gathering described in detail about the causes of Road accidents & made the audience aware of the rules and Regulations of the road. He also highlighted the importance of wearing helmet while driving. In this connection a PPT Presentation on Road Safety was also shown to the audience.

Mr.K.Shanmugasundaram - Inspector of Police and R.Rajan - Sub - Inspector of E2 Police Station graced the occasion.

The Inspector in his address also spoke about the need of helmet wearing while driving the vehicles. S.Rakhshaan Raanaa of IX std welcomed the gathering & proposed vote of thanks parents & students were much pleased.

Road Safety Week (2019)

The 30th Road Safety Week (2019) is celebrated nationwide from 4th February to 10th February. There have been various awareness campaigns and events which are being conducted in all the States. S.V.M.Hr.Sec.School, Royapettah conducted programmes on 6th Feb at the school premises. Two Traffic Policemen from Royapettah Police Station addressed the students on the importance of Road Safety and explained the various traffic rules and regulations. Wearing helmets and seat belts, avoiding travelling on foot board in buses, avoiding use of mobile phones while riding, and using Zebra crossing while crossing roads and creating awareness about dangers of drunken driving are some of the important road safety rules. They distributed loaflets(containing road safety measures) to the students.

About 50 students of the school later took out a rally near the school carrying placards and distributed leaflets to the public and car drivers. The school Principal thanked the Traffic Policemen on their initiative in creating awareness among the students & Public on the importance of Road Safety. “Vigilance Awarness Week” (29th October to 3rd Nov 2018) was conducted by Income Tax Dept at the school premises. The theme of this year celebration is “ EradicateCorrupption – Build a New India”. Mr. N. Shankaram, IRS, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax was the chief guest. Mr. Srinath, Mrs. SubhashreeAnanthaKrishanan and Dr. Pandian , Income Tax official also took part. A dance and music on “Eradication of corruption “ was held. M.P. Shruthi of 9th std spoke on the “ Corruption free society”

Creating Herb Garden

Herbs grown in schools can be used to support curriculum work in science.. Students are given training in growing these plants. The school is also planting saplings wherever the space permits. These saplings would grow into tiny trees offering the much needed green cover.

Child Safety Awarness

Child Safety Awareness programme held at the school premises on 3rd September 2019 for Classes VI to VIII, conducted by All Women E2 Police Station – W23, Royapettah, Chennai 14. The guests of the programme were Mrs.Antony Vijithra – Inspector of Police, Mrs.Jayaseeliya and Mrs.Vijaya – Head Constables. In view of providing Safety for Women & Children our Hon’ble Chief Minister Thiru.Edappadi K.Palaniswamy launched recently Amma Patrol Vehicle , which was brought to the school to be viewed by students today.

Mrs.Antony Vijithra spoke about the problems faced by the children of age group 4 – 18 years like sexual abuse, harassment, child labour etc., and the methods to overcome these situations, in emergency, through patrol service. She highlighted the services rendered by the vehicle for the benefit of needy children. Help line numbers were given to the students.

The H.M, Mrs.Willsy felicitated the guests & rendered Vote of thanks applauding the noble service of the Police department for its untiring services & good schemes for the welfare of the society.

NSS & Scout Volunteers

About 100 NSS & Scouts volunteers of S.V.M.Hr.Sec.School, Royapettah as part of extra – curricular activity, took up the task of cleaning the Chitrakulam Tank (Sri Kesava Perumal Temple), Mylapore on 13th & 14th August. They cleared the shrubs in and around the temple and also cleared the steps leading to the tank much to the delight of onlookers who gathered around. This environment – friendly attitude of the students and the enthusiasm with which they carried out the task raised the eye brows of not only the visitors to the temple but the general public too. The temple authorities expressed their thanks to the school Management and the staff members who accompanied the volunteers.

Sports

Tournaments & competitions in Sports inculcate the spirit of positive challenges and sportsmanship among the students. Our students actively participated in different sports competitions and won many prizes.

XI & XII Std boys have participated in Tennikoit and throw ball and won the zonal level match and got selected for District level.

Ameen of class XII participated in Chess competition and won the zonal match. In the District level he won IV place.

In foot ball our students under 19 years won 3rd place in zonal level and got III place in District match.

Our school boys participated in Shuttle Badminton under 17 & 19 years category and they won in the zonal level.

Under 14, 17 & 19 years category our boys won the runner up in Ball Badminton.

Spectra

SPECTRA 2019 an interschool competitions organised by SJNS Mat. Hr. Sec. School, Triplicane. Competitions include Drawing, Skit, Group Dance, Mehandi Design, etc. Our students gave a tremendous performance and won many prizes in various competitions and bagged the rolling cup. This is the second consecutive year we are receiving the overall trophy.
