Sree Venkateshwarar Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Royapettah, observed International Literacy Day on September 8, 2025, with great enthusiasm.

Around 150 students took part in the literacy rally, carrying placards and raising slogans to spread the message on the importance of education. They were joined by NSS volunteers, RSP and Scouts & guides students, creating awareness among the public.

“Literacy is the bridge from ignorance to empowerment,” was the spirit carried by the students throughout the programme.

A special road show was also performed at Royapettah High Road, featuring a Tamil play on the Importance of Education, a mime on Education as an Essential Human Right and an English play on Education with Values – True Power. The event concluded with speeches, a song and a pledge on World Literacy Day.

It was a great initiative to spread the light of literacy. Our school correspondent Mrs. Vedha Srinivasan also joined the rally along with the teachers, making the programme more impactful and inspiring for the students.

The interact club under the auspices of Rotary Club of Madras, T.Nagar was inaugurated on 18/06/2025 at the school premises under the Presidentship of Rtn. Smt Meenakshi Periyakaruppan & Sri Narendra Srisrimal, President, Rotary Club of Madras, T. Nagar. Rtn. Dr.Poornima – Secretary, RCMT, Rtn.Vipin Aggarwal – Past President, Director, Community service, Rtn.Jacob Rajkumar – Chairman RCMT Golf Tournament, Rtn.Kavitha Shankar, Rtn. Dr.Mahalakshmi – Director Youth Service, Ann. Sivaraman, and Rtn. Dharani Prakash attended the function. The Correspondent Smt.Vedha Srinivasan felicitated the guests.

Our school celebrated the 58th ANNUAL DAY on 23rd March 2019. Thiru.K Govindarajan, Partner & Global Head - Administration and Special Projects was the chief guest. Graduation Day and Nursery Grand parents day was also celebrated.

Incentive and cash prizes to students were distributed to students and teachers who enabled the students to secure centums in various subjects.

Golden Jubilee Year of 2012 – 2013 is indeed a great landmark for the School that has made rapid strides in the field of education by imparting ethical values and excellence to their students. Students’ accomplishments in education, sports and other extra curricular activities have won the encomiums of the people of Royapettah and nearby areas. There are around 1400 students enrolled in this school and about 80 well qualified and experienced teachers work with the motto: “Teaching is not a profession, but a passion”.
